The "WEUN - Junggar Basin Summer Geological Expedition Camp" is an international geological internship supported by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and organized by the Karamay Campus (CUPK) under the secretary-general unit of WEUN—China University of Petroleum (Beijing). This internship is for international students（undergraduate, master's and doctoral students）and young researchers with a geoscience background. The internship site is located in the Junggar Basin, the second largest continental basin in China, which is located between the Altai Mountains and Tianshan Mountains. The basin is an irregular triangle with abundant and typical geological phenomena. At present, more than 20 classical geological internship routes have been developed even just in the south and northwest margins of the basin, including but not limited to the profiles for lithology identification, stratigraphic identification, and structural features identification. 对照阅读

Additionally, the campus has deepened its cooperation with enterprises and integrated education and production, implementing the practical teaching concept of "Four-year continuous line", and established the School of Digital and Intelligent Oil and Gas Industry, leading the establishment of the Xinjiang New Engineering Education Alliance.
