Mission and ambition
The TTD group has the ambition to conduct top-quality fundamental research that focuses on drilling related Pipe String Mechanics, drilling related Rock Mechanics, drilling related Hydromechanics and Oilfield Chemistry .
Our research is based on a combination of Downhole Mechanics, Information Engineering and Control Engineering. The main research areas are: Directional Drilling, Borehole Stability, ROP Improvement, Reservoir Stimulation, Reservoir Protection, and Deepwater Drilling.
Organization
The permanent scientific staff of TTD research group is 41 fte. The TTD group has 1 full-time Deputy Director, 16 professors, 11 associate professors and 13 lecturers. Program leader is Prof. dr. Mian Chen.
The TTD group has six academic leaders:
- Directional Drilling and Pipe String Mechanics: Prof. dr. Deli Gao
- Theory and Technology of Water Jet: Prof. dr. Genshen Li and Prof. dr. Zhiming Wang
- Rock Mechanics: Prof. dr. Mian Chen and Prof. dr. Jingen Deng
- Oilfield Chemistry: Prof. dr. Guancheng Jiang
