Unconventional Petroleum Research Institute (UPRI) was established on November 26th, 2018. It focuses on research of unconventional oil and gas exploration and production, and education of postgraduate to meet China national demand for energy. The overall orientation of UPRI is facing the major national needs and pursuing world-class. Taking the national demand as the task, serving the national energy strategy, closely centering on the goal of building the university into an international first-class research university in the field of petroleum and petrochemical, giving full play to the advantages of team collaborative innovation and interdisciplinary, adhering to the tenet of "openness, mobility, collaboration and innovation", and adhering to the development idea of internationalization and characteristics, and to become a national base for theoretical innovation, technology research and development, personnel training, integration of production, high-quality postgraduate education, research and application, international cooperation and exchange, and a world-class unconventional oil and gas science and technology research institute. 相关文章

The institute consists of three research centers including Geology and Geophysics center, the Reservoir stimulation and Engineering Center, the Enhance Oil Recovery center,which are dedicated to the basic theory and technology study in the tight oil and gas, shale gas and coalbed gas. The major research areas cover petroleum accumulation and geological evaluation, rock mechanics and reservoir evaluation, geophysical exploration, drilling and completion, reservoir fracturing stimulation, reservoir permeation mechanism and reservoir simulation, enhanced oil recovery and oilfield chemical engineering. 继续了解

UPRI includes 87 high qualified research staff, such as chief scientistof the National "973" projects, members of the National 863" Expert Group, China National Experts.. 90% of staff hold a Ph.D. degree and 50% have oversea studying or working experiences. UPRI has more than 400 Master student and nearly 120 PhD students, including 42 oversea student which is the second largest amount in CUPB. UPRI is the supporting unit of unconventional oil and gas collaborative innovation, an important part of the State Key Laboratory of oil and gas resources and exploration, as well as the supporting unit of China University of Petroleum-Beijing fracturing center and unconventional oil and gas international joint laboratory. The Institute has five experimental centers: unconventional oil and gas accumulation and geological evaluation, unconventional oil and gas petrophysics and reservoir evaluation, unconventional reservoir reconstruction, unconventional oil and gas geophysical exploration, unconventional enhanced oil recovery. At present, the research institute has owned Beijing Key Laboratory of greenhouse gas storage and oil exploitation and utilization, and has jointly established with joint units the sub Laboratory of PetroChina unconventional oil and gas Key Laboratory, the basic theory research laboratory of EOR application in low permeability oilfield of PetroChina tertiary oil recovery key laboratory, the sub Laboratory of PetroChina basin structure and oil and gas accumulation Key Laboratory, and CUP-CMG reservoirs simulation joint laboratory.
